Wheel House Restaurant
NEW!
On Hwy 59 across from Waterville Gulf Shores
(251) 968-9222
Our new found favorite is this new restaurant right before Hardee's on
the way into Gulf Shores. Owned and managed by a delightful young couple - Jon,
who is from New Zealand and his wife, Renee, who is from Gulf Shores. Our
favorites are the Fish and Chips - large slabs of fresh Grouper, fried in a
tasty New Zealand batter, and the shrimp Po-Boy. Prices are very reasonable. Try
it, you'll agree! Good variety on the menu from Children's portions to all type
of sandwiches and the fried seafood entrees. Tasty homemade cole slaw and tartar
sauce. It's worth the trip just to see Renee's beautiful smile and to hear Ron's
unique New Zealand accent. Sandwiches run about $5. For a complete meal, expect
to spend about $9-12.

with the folks at DeSoto's at lunch for the best value and daily specials. Our
favorites at lunch time include flounder (baked, fried or blackened), blackened
catfish, hamburger
steak, pork chops, country fried steak, fried green tomatoes, and chicken tenders broiled or fried. The rolls are homemade
and baked daily. At night, you'll find the prices a little higher, but still
reasonable. All of the fresh seafood is outstanding! If you're here for a
few days, put DeSoto's on your must list. Located right in the middle of
Gulf Shores, less than one mile from Surf Side Shores. You can eat for about
$8-$10 each at lunch, evenings, expect to pay $12-$15

This is a wonderful buffet located in
a beautiful old historic building that was constructed in 1912. It's in downtown Foley, about six miles from
the beach. The food is absolutely divine. We
recommend the luncheon buffet. Don't miss the fried biscuits! The salads on the
buffet are wonderful and save room for Bill's favorite the "apple cheese
casserole." Buffet is about $9 at lunch and about $12-14 evenings.

blackened catfish, and
Shrimp and Scallops Spinach Stir Fry. They have daily specials and they will
broil, grill or blacken almost any seafood entree if you ask. The blackened
catfish filet will cost you and extra buck, but its very tender and tasty. Try the parmesan tomato for an
appetizer. The salads come with delicious pecan chips in them. The
menu is the same night and day, but the prices are a little cheaper and the
servings a little smaller during the day. Check out the daily specials

gumbos and chowder, steaks, and a few grilled seafood items.
The Tin Top Restaurant & Oyster Bar
County Road 10 off Highway 59
(251) 949-5086
This is a unique eatery, off the beaten path, but still get there
early to avoid a wait. All the seafood is delicious and they have several unique
sandwiches. Some local entertainment on the week-ends. Nice atmosphere - eat
inside or outside. Nice outside bar! We usually go with fresh seafood...fried
shrimp, grouper, red snapper. The sides are good as are the desserts. If you are
not familiar with the area, ask for directions to The Tin Top and Bon Secour
Bay.
Our favorite places to eat vary a little from season to season, and as
chefs move around, so be
sure to check these pages before you come to Gulf Shores.
We left out a few all time favorites, including Wolf Bay Lodge, The Original
Pointe, just because they are a little ways off the beach and we
like to enjoy the last bit of sun and surf. If someone recommends them and you
have time, they are all great. Just ask for local directions on how to get
there. All of our recommendations are within a few minutes driving time! Enjoy!!
